Faribault man arrested in snowmobile crash that left pedestrian in critical condition

Authorities say a man is in critical condition after a snowmobile struck him Friday night near Faribault.

A Rice County Sheriff's Office sergeant said deputies responded to a snowmobile crash around 8:30 p.m. Friday on Cannon Lake in Warsaw Township. The victim, an adult male, was walking off the ice when a snowmobile hit him. He was taken to the hospital to be treated for serious injuries to his head and legs.


In a news release, the sheriff's office identified the victim as Coy Allen Kreger, 23, of Faribault. As of Saturday evening, he was in critical condition at Hennepin County Medical Center.

The man driving the snowmobile, Dennis D. Krenz, 20, of Faribault, was taken into custody on a charge of criminal vehicular operation and underage drinking and driving, according to the release.

The crash remains under investigation.
