A small, central Minnesota town held a welcome home parade Sunday for Vietnam veterans.

The people of Swanville in Morrison County raised more than $60,000 to send 10 area veterans back to Vietnam for a tour of the country they fought in.

The group returned home Sunday to a hero's welcome 50 years after their service.

"I didn't expect anything like this," one veteran said.

Other veterans were emotional by the homecoming.

"Back in '69 and '70, we were spit upon, so this is wonderful," another said.

The town of Swanville is trying to raise money to send 11 more area veterans on a trip to Vietnam in the fall.
