The Inver Grove Heights Police Department along with Simley High School administration decided on Saturday to shut down the school's homecoming dance early after a "perceived threat of a weapon," according to a police department release.

A school resource officer was in attendance at the dance and investigated the perceived threat, but the officer and school's administration were unable to substantiate it. Police did not specify the nature of the threat.
