A man died from injuries he sustained in a shooting Thursday night in St. Paul, authorities said.

Officers responded around 5:26 p.m. Thursday to a report of a shooting in the 200 block of State Street on the west side of St. Paul. A man was found at the scene with gunshot wounds to the head and torso in the parking lot of J an P Trading.

The man was taken to Regions Hospital with life-threatening injuries. He died later in the night, St. Paul police said.

Officers are gathering evidence at the scene and looking for any witnesses or cameras that may have captured what happened.

In an update Friday, police confirmed the shooting is also related to an injury crash at Oakland Cemetery just north of the capitol building that occurred shortly after.

A man, identified as 28-year-old Chee Kong Yang, was arrested and booked for murder, police said.
