Shakopee Legion takes down Orono in Sub-State 3 Playoff

Shakopee Legion baseball defeated Orono Legion in the Sub-State 3 Playoff tournament on Saturday at Chaska Athletic Park.

Orono jumped out to an early lead when Josh Delange hit an RBI double to make it 1-0 in the top of the first inning. In the top of the third, Delange came through again for Orono, this time with an RBI single to make it 2-0 Orono.

Shakopee fought back in the bottom half of the inning. An Orono throwing error allowed Shakopee to score to make it a 2-1 ballgame. Then, Alex Broholm hit an RBI double to make it a tie game at 2-2.

In the bottom of the fourth inning, pitcher John Sullivan helped his own cause with a sacrifice fly to put Shakopee up 3-2.

In the bottom of the fifth inning, catch Tyler Ho hit an RBI single to make it 4-2. Then, Ethan Hintz hit an RBI double to put Shakopee up 5-2.

Sullivan would close out Orono in the final two innings to give Shakopee the victory.

Shakopee will face the winner of Edina vs. Eden Prairie in the final.
