Multiple people are charged following an investigation involving the trafficking of minors out of Brooklyn Park, according to court records.
Brendian Kewon Daniels, Raphael Landon Powell, Lanesha Keyon Morgan-Franklin and Michaella Florencia Collins all face charges stemming from an investigation that began in August of 2017, according to separate criminal complaints.
Daniels faces two counts of promoting prostitution and one count of receiving profits from prostitution, Raphael Landon Powell faces one count of promoting prostitution and one count of receiving prostitution and Lanesh Keyon Morgan-Franklin faces one count of promoting prostitution and one count of receiving profits from prostitution.
During the investigation, law enforcement identified Daniels and Powell as suspects who had been involved in the trafficking of underage victims.
During interviews with multiple victims and witnesses, investigators learned that victims had posted advertisements online for sex or "dates." One witness told investigators the victims and Powell and Daniels received money from the victims and Morgan-Franklin following "dates."
One victim told police that Daniels told her having sex for money was, "how I was told I had to live" and Daniels told her to recruit friends to "make him some money."
In March, a victim was taken into custody after she ran away from home. According to the complaint, she said she had been at Brooklyn Center hotel with Daniels, Powell and Morgan-Franklin. She told investigators she had placed an ad on social media to set up more dates. The complaint said Daniels ended up setting up the dates, telling her when they would come and how much to charge.
According to Morgan-Franklin's criminal complaint, she was arrested on March 30 on suspicion of trafficking a minor. During an interview with police, Morgan-Franklin said she had been living at a Brooklyn Park apartment and introduced the idea of using a social media app to arrange prostitution.
All three are currently in custody.
Also charged in connection to the investigation is Michaella Florencia Collins. Collins faces three counts of promoting prostitution and three counts of receiving profit from prostitution.
Collins is not in custody at this time.
