A fight at a Minneapolis high school occurred earlier this week. Now, officials say another "aggressive incident" took place Thursday.
The principal at Edison High School says it's unusual.
"I would say it's really unfortunate that two incidents happened like this in the same week," Eryn Warne said.
Warne says school staff can typically keep situations from reaching a boiling point.
"Unfortunately, there are times when we can't predict when students will reach for violence to solve their conflicts," she said. "And we can only do our best to very quickly intervene and keep our students safe," she added.
Warne says there is a school resource officer (SRO) that works in the building.
"Our SRO does support us in assessing the situation," she said. "He very rarely needs to intervene and generally won't unless called upon to do so by the school staff. But in this case, he was supporting us as we just made sure we were restoring the environment to calm."
The district reported there were eight assaults at Edison High School in 2017. Aside from the fight on Monday and Thursday's "aggressive event," there has only been one assault in 2018, according to the district.
