Earlier Tuesday, authorities reported they had launched a separate homicide investigation after a man who "had suffered trauma" was found on a bike path in Minneapolis late Monday night. That man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Anyone with any information on that case is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or to submit information online and reference case number 19-241191.

Both incidents are the latest in a string of violent crimes in Minneapolis.

"We need more officers to be able to build up those positive community-police relationships that we all purport to want and so I will be delivering our budget presentation this Thursday and yes, we will include additional police officers in it," Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey said Tuesday.

Frey did not say how many additional officers he plans to request during his address.

Previously, Minneapolis Police Chief Maderia Arradondo said he needs 1,000 officers on the street by the year 2025, which would nearly double the police force in five years.
