Scott County Investigates Death of 18-Month-Old in Foster Care

The Scott County Sheriff's Office said it is investigating the death of an 18-month-old girl in foster care who died Tuesday.

Authorities were called to the scene at 4:41 p.m. to report of a child struggling to breathe Sunday at the 4000 block of Morlock Drive in Sand Creek Township. However, the girl was unresponsive when first responders arrived.


The child was taken to the hospital then airlifted to Children's Hospital where she died on Tuesday afternoon.

According to the press release, the child had been placed in foster care and put in the residence by Hennepin County. 

“We are unable to provide additional details at this time as this is an ongoing, active investigation,” Scott County Sheriff Luke Hennen said. “Our investigators are working hard to obtain answers regarding the circumstances surrounding this incident.”  

The department added there are currently no other children at the residence.
