A second-grade student from Highland Park Elementary school brought a gun into school on Wednesday, school officials reported. 

In a letter to parents, Highland Park Elementary School Principal Nancy Flynn stated staff responded immediatly to the incident and recovered a gun with a trigger lock on it that prevents the weapon from being fired.
