5 Eyewitness News is partnering with the Neighborhood Development Center to help businesses hurt by the unrest in the Twin Cities.  On Thursday, July 16, 5 Eyewitness News will hold a day of giving both online and on our air.  Every dollar donated benefits these local businesses.  For every $1 donated, the NDC estimates that $40 is returned to the neighborhood where the business is located. 5 Eyewitness News will feature stories about how these businesses are trying to rebuild and get the help they desperately need.

Here are the businesses we are supporting: Great Health Nutrition, Hamburguesas El Gordo, Hamdi Restaurant, La Michoacana Purepecha, Laddatude Tattoo, Midori's Floating World Cafe, Peking Garden, Sanaag Restaurant and Coffee, Seward Pharmacy, Town Talk Diner & Gastropub, Turf Club, Urban Forage Winery and Cider House, Eastlake Craft Brewery, Andy's Garage, Pham's Rice Bowl, Mimi's Beauty Salon, and The Cultural Wellness Center.

A pop-up food shelf located at 500 Dale Street will also be collecting donations from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily starting immediately. Donation needs include diapers, paper towels, toilet paper, cleaning supplies, laundry detergent and toiletries.

Founded in 1993, NDC finds the untapped, hidden talent of entrepreneurs in low-income communities and eliminates barriers to their success through long-term relationships and culturally competent programs. Through their unique program, NDC has trained more than 4,000 entrepreneurs, lent over $6.3 million to small businesses, provided more than 25,000 hours of one-on-one assistance, and redeveloped six commercial properties.
