The crash happened shortly before 9:30 a.m. Sunday. Minneapolis police say two southbound vehicles on Blaisdell Avenue South failed to stop for a red light at 26th Street West and collided with two westbound vehicles. A male passenger of one of the westbound vehicles, later identified as 32-year-old Jason Alexander Ritenour, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Three people in one of the southbound vehicles remained on the scene, while three occupants of the second southbound vehicle fled on foot, according to police. Officers later located, interviewed and released one of those people.
