They’re calling it the "New America March," demanding justice and social change over the holiday weekend.

Leaders of the 10K Foundation organized Sunday’s march from Mall of America in Bloomington to the George Floyd memorial site at 38th Street and Chicago Avenue in south Minneapolis.

The group sang and carried signs for several miles.

Leaders say it was important to start the march at Mall of America.

"It’s a historical landmark for the state of Minnesota," Royce White with 10K Foundation said. "It is connected heavily to the brand of America, and it definitely is a symbol of the materialism in this country."

Many who took part in the march didn’t mind the hot temperatures.

"We’re not giving up," protester Valerie Rose said. "Now is the time, so just get ready because we’re not going away."

The group gave out bottles of water as protesters walked in the heat.

On Saturday, the 10K Foundation organized a march that started at U.S. Bank Stadium, flowed through downtown Minneapolis, crossed the Stone Arch Bridge and ended in St. Anthony Main.
