The Prior Lake city manager has been arrested on allegations of domestic assault.

The Scott County Sheriff's Office said it received a request from Prior Lake Police to investigate a report of domestic assault at the 14000 block of Wilds Path NW on Wednesday morning.

At about 7:20 p.m., Michael Pasquinel Plante, 36, was arrested on suspicion of domestic assault, the sheriff's office said. He was transported to the Scott County Jail.

"We take these types of situations very seriously," said Sheriff Luke Hennen.  "I anticipate that people will have questions about this incident and many of these questions will be addressed in the County Attorney's charging documents, if and when they are filed."

The City of Prior Lake also posted about the arrest online, adding that plante was placed on leave. While he's on leave, Assistant City Manager Lori Olson will assume all responsibilities, the city said.

The sheriff's office said the investigation remains ongoing.
