The Prince estate is asking a Bloomington man to stop selling replicas of Prince's iconic Cloud Guitar.

Dave Rusan, with Rusan Guitarworks, created the Cloud Guitar for the movie 'Purple Rain.'

Earlier this year, Rusan obtained a trademark for the Cloud Guitar design.

Last month Rusan says he received a letter from Paisley Park lawyers asking him to give up the trademark.

"It really feels like they want to take something away from me that I care about and feel that I own," Rusan said. "I feel like it's a David and Goliath thing."

More from KSTP:

Rusan sells the replica Cloud Guitar for $8,000 to customers around the world.

"Australia, sending one to Japan, every country in Europe," Rusan said.

Rusan is preparing for a legal battle.

5 EYEWITNESS NEWS reached out to the attorneys for the Prince estate but there was no response.
