Warning for parents at day cares after car break-ins across metro

Authorities are warning parents to be alert when picking up or dropping off kids at day care.

The Minnesota Child Care Association issued a safety alert after a large number of car break-ins at day cares across the Twin Cities.

One happened last month at a Maple Grove day care.

Police say purses stolen from vehicles around metro area

"It looks like the same people that are doing it," Joe Piket, with the Minnesota Child Care Association, said. "So the frustration is they've been able to get away with it for so long. We are on heightened alert in our parking lots until these guys are caught. "

The Minnesota Child Care Association is reminding parents to not leave valuables inside their car when picking up or dropping off their children at day care.
