Police vehicle rear-ended in St. Paul, 2 officers hurt

Two officers were hurt when a police vehicle was struck in St. Paul Tuesday morning.

According to the St. Paul Police Department, officers were at the scene of a crash in the area of Lexington Parkway and Minnehaha Avenue at about 1:30 a.m.


One of the police vehicles, with its emergency lights flashing, was blocking northbound traffic at Lexington Parkway and Van Buren Boulevard, police said.

Then, a vehicle traveling northbound struck the rear passenger side of the vehicle, police said.

The two officers in the vehicle were taken to Regions Hospital, but police said their injuries were not serious.

The driver of the vehicle that struck the police vehicle was detained at the scene and arrested on suspicion of DUI.

The Minnesota State Patrol is investigating the incident.
