According to police, a woman was at a Hy-Vee store in Robbinsdale and was putting air in the vehicle's tires when a man got in the vehicle and drove off with her 4-year-old in the back seat.

Police said the suspect briefly stopped a short time later and the child got out of the vehicle before the suspect drove out of the parking lot and onto 36th Avenue N.

Officers found the vehicle abandoned a short time later in Golden Valley, police said. Officers also found a stolen vehicle was dropped off by the same person in an adjoining parking lot just prior to the incident.

The child wasn't injured.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Robbinsdale Police.
