Man's body found in median of Highway 169 in Shakopee, authorities investigating

Law enforcement is investigating a man's death on Highway 169, according to state law enforcement.

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) said the man was found in the median of northbound Highway 169 at Canterbury Road in Shakopee by a passerby shortly before 3 p.m. Thursday. That person then called 911.

The Minnesota State Patrol and several other agencies were at the scene for several hours after Shakopee Police said earlier in the afternoon that officers responded to an "incident" on Highway 169.

Because of the response, both southbound and northbound traffic on Highway 169 were down to one lane for several hours between County Highway 83 and County Highway 21, but all lanes have since reopened.

The BCA said State Patrol troopers and Shakopee police responded to a three-vehicle crash near the same location at about 10:40 p.m. Wednesday, but it's unclear if the incidents are related. The BCA is leading the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the man's death.

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office will identify the man after an autopsy and notification of next of kin.

No other details were immediately available.
