Police: Man wanted in connection to incident in St. Paul shot, killed by officers in St. Cloud

A suspect wanted in connection to an incident in St. Paul was shot and killed by law enforcement officers in St. Cloud Tuesday night.

According to a release from the St. Cloud Police Department, St. Cloud police were assisting St. Paul police and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives in locating a man wanted in connection to a shooting and carjacking that occurred in St. Paul Monday night. In the Monday night incident, the man fired at St. Paul police. He also had an active warrant for aggravated robbery.

At 5:57 p.m. Tuesday, the man was located in a vehicle on the 2200 block of Division Street West in St. Cloud.

Officers blocked the suspect vehicle in with an armored vehicle and attempted to take the man into custody.

The man exited the vehicle with a firearm and officers from each of the agencies fired their weapons at the suspect.

Life-saving efforts were attempted, however, the suspect died at the scene.

A woman in the car with the suspect is being treated at St. Cloud Hospital for injuries that are not considered life-threatening.

No officers were injured. The incident is under investigation.
