Police took one suspect into custody and are working to find one person who was hurt after a "violent incident" at the Metropolitan State University's library Tuesday.

In a statement from the university's public information officer, the incident occurred at about 8:30 a.m. on the university's St. Paul campus.

Although a suspect was taken into custody, first responders were unable to find the victim of the incident after university security officers attended to him or her.

"We do not know the identity of the victim and are working closely with the SPPD (St. Paul Police Department)," the spokeswoman said in the statement.

There is no threat to those on campus, the spokeswoman said.

"The safety and security of our faculty, staff and students is our top priority," the spokeswoman said in the statement. "We are thankful for the swift action of our security team, police and emergency responders."
