Police are investigating an assault in Minneapolis that left a 75-year-old man with what police called grave injuries.

23-year-old Leroy Davante Davis-Miles has been arrested in connection to the assault.

According to Minneapolis Police, officers from MPD and Metro Transit responded to the 2900 block of Chicago Avenue at about 2:39 p.m. Wednesday on a reported assault.

When officers arrived, they provided aid to the victim while other officers spoke with people in the area.

Preliminary information indicates there was a verbal exchange on a Metro Transit bus, police said. When the victim got off the bus, the suspect and three others followed the victim. Police said another altercation then took place, and the suspect struck the victim, causing him to fall and hit his head.

The man was taken to a hospital.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Minneapolis Police at 612-692-8477, or CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

No other details were immediately available.
