Partnering to Punt Hunger in Minnesota During Super Bowl LIVE

January 29, 2018 07:23 PM

One in 10 Minnesota residents are food insecure. In an effort to help alleviate the disparity, Pimento Jamaican Kitchen and Loaves & Fishes have teamed up during Super Bowl LIVE.
Pimento Jamaican Kitchen is using Loaves & Fishes' food truck throughout the 10-day Super Bowl LIVE event on Nicollet Mall. For every meal sold, 10 percent will be donated and used to serve a Loaves & Fishes' meal to a hungry Minnesotan.

To help get word out about the food truck, Loaves & Fishes is sponsoring a social media contest for which there will be five prizes — all provided by Pimento. The grand prize is a Pimento Jamaican Kitchen catered dinner for 10. Contestants must post on Facebook, Twitter and/or Instagram using the hashtag #pimentoloaves. Additional rules apply.

Loaves & Fishes serves free, nutritious meals to those in need at locations where the need is greatest. Its meal program began 36 years ago, in 1982, with one dining site each in Minneapolis and St. Paul. Since that time, it has grown to serving about 2,000 meals per day in Minnesota and is now the largest free "open to the public" meal program in the state.
