Pickup crashes into motorcycle in Pine County, Minnesota, killing 2

Two people riding a motorcycle together were killed after they were rear-ended by a pickup truck Sunday in rural Pine County.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, around 1:08 p.m. a Harley Davidson motorcycle was headed eastbound on Highway 48 when it slowed to turn north on Fleming Logging Road in Clover Township, nearly 60 miles southwest of Duluth. A Chevrolette 1500 pickup traveling in the same direction struck the motorcycle from behind.

Both the driver and the passenger of the motorcycle suffered fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, according to the State Patrol. They have been identified as 66-year-old Jerry McDowell and 61-year-old Sharon McDowell of Pine City, Minnesota.

The driver of the pickup, a 17-year-old boy, was not injured.
