Philando Castile Remembered Through Community Events

The 'For The Love' community celebration kicked off Saturday in Mears Park in downtown St. Paul with a modest crowd. Back in 2016, this festival was held during the week of Philando Castile's death and was almost canceled. However, the community wanted the celebration to go on. Friday night marked two years since Castile was killed.

Former St. Anthony Police Officer Jeronimo Yanez shot him during a traffic stop in Falcon Heights. He was cleared of all charges.

"No progress. Black men are still in danger," Lewis Dennard said.

The organizer of the musical and arts event says this festival continues to be about giving people a safe, healing place to come together in light of Castile's death.
