A person was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center after being shot near a Metro Transit light rail platform Saturday evening.

According to Minneapolis Police spokesperson John Elder, the shooting occurred on the 2200 block of East Lake Street at 5:53 p.m. Investigators initially believed the suspect fled on the light rail train line at Lake Street and Hiawatha Avenue. However, police found out later that was not the case and they were able to take a suspect into custody shortly thereafter.

The victim was transported with injuries believed to not be life-threatening.

The incident remains under investigation.

Metro Transit tweeted out there would be delays, but they are working to get back on schedule as of 6:33 p.m.
