Boy struck by light rail train in St. Paul expected to be OK

A Metro Transit Green Line train hit a juvenile in St. Paul Wednesday.

According to Metro Transit, the incident occurred before 6 p.m. at Victoria Station, located near the intersection of University Avenue and Victoria Street. 


Metro Transit spokesperson Howie Padilla said a juvenile was struck and has injuries that are not considered to be life-threatening. He is currently at Regions Hospital.

"The juvenile had gotten off the eastbound train and was crossing in the pedestrian area and was then struck by the eastbound train," Padilla said. 

Metro Transit tweeted at 6:45 p.m. that trains were moving in both directions at Victoria Station.

No other details were immediately available. The incident is under investigation.
