Minneapolis police said one person was taken to the hospital Wednesday night after being hit by a vehicle.

Scott Seroka of the Minneapolis Police Department said the incident happened at Lagoon Avenue and James Avenue South.

Seroka said the individual was walking across Lagoon Avenue and was struck by a vehicle turning off James Avenue onto Lagoon. The vehicle was moving at a lower rate of speed.

The victim - a man - was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center. Seroka said he was alive, but had suffered significant injuries. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the incident at this point.
