A 22-year-old male is dead after a Jeep Grand Cherokee drove off Highway 169 in Bloomington at Anderson Lakes Pkwy., early Friday morning, the Minnesota State Patrol confirms.

The driver has been identified as Devin Eric Gaines of St. Paul.

At around 1 a.m., the Jeep went off the road at a high speed and became airborne, hitting a tree. The vehicle came to rest in a nearby holding pond where it was found about 50 yards into water upright and not fully submerged, according to the state patrol.

The Bloomington and Eden Prairie Fire Departments responded to the incident, and both used water rescue units.

Gaines was not wearing a seatbelt, according to the incident report.
