Officials urge awareness, caution ahead of 2019 Flood Run

Updated: September 20, 2019 05:39 PM

The 54th Annual Flood Run is Saturday, which means tens of thousands of motorcycles will be on the roads between the Twin Cities and Winona.

The event draws so many riders that the Minnesota Department of Public Safety is putting out the alert to car drivers.

Officers anticipate about 30,000 motorcycles to hit the area over the weekend for the Flood Run, which benefits Gillette Children's Specialty Healthcare.

The Flood Run is 218 miles down and up the Mississippi River.

However, rain is expected Saturday, so riders will have to be extra cautious.

DPS said it also wants to make sure drivers in vehicles are mindful of the event and watch out for all motorcyclists.
