New study: 25% of Minnesotans will spend more on pets than partners this holiday

The holiday shopping season is well underway.

Shoppers are spending millions of dollars on the perfect gift for their family, friends, and their pets.

In fact, a quarter of Minnesotans say they spend more on the furrier members of the family.

A new study by pet company Innovet says one in four Minnesota pet owners say this holiday they will spend more on pets than partners.

Pet owners we spoke to at Bentley's Pet Stuff in Minneapolis say they are not shocked by the study.

Samantha Red Feather plans to buy more gifts for her dog then her husband.

"I'd rather much get her gifts then him, because she's more excited for things than he is," Red Feather said. "He might get a few things but not as much as her."

The study questioned 2,500 pet owners.
