New parking concerns over Minnesota United's new professional soccer stadium in St. Paul.

Allianz Field is set to open in the Midway neighborhood next spring.

Last month, the City of St. Paul granted a permit for two interim parking lots with a total of 150 spaces next to the stadium for up to five years.

Neighborhood groups want to see new development on the land instead of small parking lots.

"The parking lot is only going to be used 16 days a year and the neighbors have to look at and there's not much of a plan for a use for it," Brandon Long with Union District Council said. "We were hoping for a mixed-use plan for it."

The city would like to see a large structure parking be built next to the stadium.

"It would be structured parking that would support restaurants, retail space, office, housing-- all the things that are going to be part of that site in the long run," Josh Williams, with the St. Paul Senior Planner said.

St. Paul hopes to complete their transportation management plan for the stadium by early winter.
