Neighbors of Minnehaha Academy remember tragedy as school prepares to reopen

Students and staff held a celebration Monday for Minnehaha Academy's new upper campus.

A ribbon-cutting and walk took place at the school.


This is more than two years after an explosion leveled the school and killed two employees.

Some of the features at the new school,  include large open rooms with plenty of natural light.

There will also be tributes on display for the two school workers who died.

Neighbors of the school will never forget the tragedy. 

"All I could see is dust debris just going everywhere," neighbor Judith Lies said. "I ran to the phone and called 911. The person at 911 said 'You're the first call did this really happen?'"

The first day of classes is Wednesday.
