A boy who was declared missing and searched for was found dead Tuesday night.
According to the release, at approximately 4:18 p.m. the Dodge County Sheriff's Office received a report of a missing seven-year-old boy at Naylor's Pond on 160th Avenue, north of Highway 14 in rural Dodge County. The initial report was that the boy had been swimming with friends and had been missing for about 10 minutes.
Responders arrived on scene and immediately started searching the pond and surrounding areas. Assistance was provided by the Dodge Center Fire Department, Claremont Fire Department, West Concord Fire Department and Dodge Center Ambulance Service. The search team expanded to include assistance from the Owatonna Police Department's Drone Program, Minnesota State Patrol's helicopter, Mayo One, DNR, and the Olmstead County Sheriff's Office Dive Team.
At approximately 7:37 p.m., divers located the boy's body in a deeper part of the pond, near the area where he was last seen by friends.
The Olmstead County Medical Examiner's Office will be doing an autopsy Wednesday to confirm accidental drowning as the cause of death.
No names are being released pending notification of family.
