No One Injured in Boat Explosion on St. Croix River

Police in Hudson say a boat was being launched into the St. Croix River when it exploded Friday evening.


The explosion was called in around 7:40 p.m., police said.

A small fuel leak on the river has been contained.


The Hudson fire chief said a boat was unoccupied when it exploded Friday evening.

No one was injured in the explosion. The boat drifted back into the water, but has since been removed from the river.

The fire has been extinguished and crews are cleaning up the spilled fuel.

At least two agencies responded to an incident on the St. Croix River Friday evening.

The Washington County Sheriff's Office confirmed it was assisting the St. Croix County Sheriff's Office with the incident.

Videos and pictures from the scene showed a boat on fire. The Hudson Fire Department confirmed a boat exploded.
