Saturday, Gov. Tim Walz, Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan, U.S. Rep. Angie Craig and Sen. Karla Bigham will be in Hastings filling sandbags as part of flood preparations to help nearby residents.

The threat of rising water is affecting communities throughout Minnesota, including those along the Mississippi River.

Leaders of communities throughout the state have either begun developing flood preparation plans or begun implementing those plans.

"Swift action is needed to help keep people, homes, and businesses in the Second District safe," officials wrote in a statement released Saturday, regarding flood preparations.
