The movie received several Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture.

"It's a really, really hard thing to make a film and to have one turn out that's really good it's almost a miracle," Burke said. "I have to be who I am and who I am is a Minnesotan."

Burke will give the commencement speech at the University of Minnesota this spring. He grew up only a few miles from some other movie makers, the Coen brothers of St. Louis Park.
