Halloween is taking over in Apple Valley.
The Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular opened Thursday night at the Minnesota Zoo. Thousands of carved pumpkins will line a quarter-mile of trails now through the end of the month.
Organizers said they are designed and maintained by dozens of artists.

"We also do this up in Providence, Rhode Island, and Lousiville, Kentucky, and it's because of the success and the popularity there, that's why we've brought it here," Travis Reckner said.
The zoo said during the course of the event, more than 20,000 real pumpkins will be carved and displayed.
