One Minnesota college student will have a head start on paying off his student loans thanks to the Minnesota Lottery.

Twenty-year-old Brandon Stevenson won $1 million on a Powerball ticket, which he purchased through the new Minnesota Jackpocket app.

Stevenson, a Concordia University student, does not play the lottery regularly, according to a release from Jackpocket.

The app, which allows users to purchase state lottery tickets via their phone, made its Minnesota debut just two weeks ago.

Stevenson will claim his winnings at a press conference Thursday afternoon.
