Minneapolis schools were closed Wednesday, but children still had a place to go and get out of the house.
All recreation centers across the city opened early for kids and their parents. Gyms and other activities were available.
It's something the city's rec centers do each time there is a snow day.
Some even took advantage of the hill near the Matthews Recreation Center for sledding.
"We're going to be providing fun opportunities for them to get outside," Elise Mohn of the center said. "We'll also be having a lot gym time for them to come into the park and get some good healthy excerise."
