A Minneapolis mail carrier was attacked by a dog Thursday while on a route, according to Kristy Anderson, a strategic communications specialist with the United States Postal Service.

Anderson said the mail carrier approached the mailbox attached to the house when a large dog pushed through a window screen and attacked the carrier. The carrier had protective equipment, but because the attack happened quickly, he was unable to use it.

Anderson said the carrier was treated and released.

Because of the attack, mail will no longer be delivered at the home. However, Anderson said the customer could get a box at the post office or put a mail box at the curb for delivery to resume.
