The owner of an in-home day care center charged with attempted murder has been booked in the Hennepin County Public Safety Facility.

Forty-two-year-old Nataliia Karia of Minneapolis has been charged with second-degree attempted murder, third-degree assault and two counts of criminal vehicular operation.

She has been charged in connection with events that occurred last Friday, when a child was found hanging from the basement ceiling of her home, and a pedestrian and bicyclist were hit by her vehicle as she fled the scene.

A man who was dropping his 3-year-old off the day of the incident said Karia told him she "couldn't take it anymore" and told him to see what she had done.

The man said Karia led him to the basement, where he heard a baby crying and saw the 16-month-old boy hanging from a noose. The man rescued the child and fled out of the day care.

Police say the boy, who had severe ligature marks on his neck and face, will heal.

Meanwhile, the pedestrian struck—Salvador Lema who is a father of four—had a broken ankle, broken ribs and multiple cuts. He remains in the hospital.

The bicyclist hit—29-year-old Jacob Carrigan—suffered a broken leg in which doctors implanted a permanent titanium rod. He is out of the hospital and recovering at his family's home in Brooklyn Center.

The Department of Human Services has suspended the in-home day care center's license.
