A Minneapolis City Council committee has voted to approve a proposal to expand the body camera program in the city's police department.
An additional $5.3 million will ensure all 900 officers will be equipped with a body worn camera. And it will help the department improve its technology.
Currently, officers have to manually turn on their cameras. Under this proposal, every camera would turn on automatically.
The full City Council is expected to vote on the measure next week.
