St. Thomas reports Simpson was interested in studying business.

The release said Counseling and Psychological Services and the Center for Campus Ministry are available for students, faculty and staff who need grief support.

Firefighters and police were in the area of 10th and University Avenues at about 1 a.m.

The Minneapolis Fire Department does not believe the death was a suicide or a murder.

Assistant Chief Bryan Tyner, the department's public information officer, said the incident is believed to have occurred in an outdoor lounge area on the 10th floor. Others were believed to have been outside with her and were trying to help when firefighters arrived.
