Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey reappointed current Minneapolis Police Chief Medaria Arradondo Thursday.
The new, three-year term would be from Jan. 1, 2019, through Dec. 31, 2021.
Arradondo's current term expires Jan. 7, 2019. He was appointed in July 2017, following the resignation of former Police Chief Janeé Harteau.
The nomination will go to the Executive Committee on Nov. 14 and will require three votes to advance to the full city council for final approval.
