A mayfly hatch along the Mississippi River near La Crosse appeared on the National Weather Service's radar Monday night.
The NWS said the hatch occurred around 9 p.m.

According to the Minnesota of Department of Natural Resources, a mayfly hatch is often synchronized.
The DNR said adult mayflies also rarely live more than a month.
