Man killed in St. Louis Park officer-involved shooting had prior warrants

The man killed in an officer-involved shooting in St. Louis Park Saturday night had previous warrants, according to court records.

The shooting happened at approximately 6:15 p.m. at an apartment building on Louisiana Court. Officers responded to the area after receiving a report of an altercation.

At some point, the man was fatally shot but investigators have not yet disclosed what exactly led up to the gunfire.

The man killed was identified by the Hennepin County Medical Center as 35-year-old Matthew Neil Tuhkanen, from Anoka. The medical examiner stated Tuhkanen died as the result of multiple gunshot wounds.

Court records indicate Tuhkanen had prior warrants in Anoka County for trespassing, assault and disorderly conduct.

The police officer involved in the shooting has been placed on standard administrative leave and the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office is continuing to investigate.
