Maple Grove police told 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS an unidentified woman was shot and critically injured last Saturday and they are now looking to talk with the man who drove the woman to Maple Grove Hospital.

Maple Grove Police Captain Adam Lindquist told KSTP investigators talked with the man Saturday evening after dialing his cell phone but have not been able to locate him since that time.

"According to a witness, Marcel McCabe was present at the time of the shooting," said Lindquist. "Maple Grove detectives would like to interview McCabe to further their investigation."

The Hennepin County search warrant said the shooting victim has been transported to North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale and has not been able to talk with investigators due to the severity of her injuries.

The warrant also said the woman's three children were inside the car where one of the children told police the shooting happened while it was parked at Famous Dave's Restaurant in Maple Grove.

The warrant said McCabe told investigators, by cell phone, that the victim came to pick him up at Famous Dave's while he was working and that she was already shot and bleeding and that's when he drove her to Maple Grove Hospital.

But, the warrant said one of the three children in the back seat of the car told investigators McCabe got into the driver's side of the car and their mother slid to the passenger's side and then there was a "boom sound" and the children's mother was seen bleeding in the front seat.

If you know where Marcel McCabe can be located, please call the Maple Grove Police Department at (763) 494-6100.
