One person was taken into custody after a standoff that began late Sunday night in Mankato.

The city of Mankato said Mankato Police officers noticed a person who had a felony probation warrant inside a residence at about 11:52 p.m. Sunday.


When officers attempte to make contact with the individual, he refused and a perimeter was set up.

Police had asked people to stay away from the 1400 block of North Fifth Street because of the incident with a barricaded suspect.

Officers were able to take the suspect, 38-year-old Joshua Raymond Armendariz, of Mankato, into custody at 11:51 a.m. Monday, the city said.

Armendariz was taken to the hospital for medical evaluation and was then transported to jail.

The Minnesota River Valley Tactical Response Team, North Mankato Police, Blue Earth and Nicollet counties sheriff's departments and Gold Cross Ambulance, Mankato also assisted during the incident.
