Police marked off an area where a man was found lying on a sidewalk in North Minneapolis. He later died in the hospital.

The man who died of injuries after being found on a sidewalk in north Minneapolis early on New Year's Day has been identified. 

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office says he was 18-year-old Ahkeem Deontravaye Robinson, of Big Lake.

Robinson's death was the result of a homicide – a stab wound to the left shoulder and axilla, the medical examiner's report says. 

He was found on the sidewalk about 1:48 a.m. on the 3000 block of Emerson Avenue North, Minneapolis police said. He was taken to North Memorial Health Hospital, where he died at 2:54 a.m.
